Alma Marie Reed CroppedAlma Marie Reed, age 85, of Grapeland, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her residence. She was born November 3, 1934 in Houston County to parents, Arlie Nick and Mattie Whitehead Nick. Marie drove a truck alongside her husband for 30 years before retiring. She taught Sunday School for many years at Calvary Baptist Church in Crockett and after joining Grapeland First Baptist Church, was a leader for AWANAS.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Penny Howard and husband, Tim of Grapeland; son, James Wesley Reed of Grapeland; grandchildren, T. C. Howard and wife, Amy of Grapeland, Melissa Cobb and husband, Chuck of Grapeland, Leigha Nicole McDonald of Grapeland, Jerred Reed of College Station, Jami Reed of Crockett; great-grandchildren, Blake, Emma, Loren, Maddi, Ryleigh, Jase, Mazie, Ryder, Casey, Caylee, Aubrey, Mia, Hensley, Robert; sisters, Pearl Moss of Conroe, Eva Mae McKinney of Lufkin, Mattie Lou Richardson of Crockett, Edwena Martin of Chandler; sisters-in-law, Janice Choate and husband, Norman of Grapeland, Syble Minter and husband, Johnny of Pasadena; brother-in-law, Glynn Reed and wife, Nita of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by husband, James Reed; parents, Arlie and Mattie Nick; brother, John Truitt “Buddy” Nick.

Funeral services for Alma Marie Reed will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Bradley and Rev. Wes Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at the Whitehead Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to service.
