Betty Jane Evetts Sossaman

Betty Sossaman CroppedBetty Jane Evetts Sossaman passed away peacefully in Crockett, Texas on December 12, 2020 at age 83. Betty was born January 25, 1937 in Houston. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1955, then attended secretarial school. Betty worked for Tenneco in the tax department for 18 years, then married her sweetheart A.D. Sossaman. She went from having one child by her first marriage, Karen, to having 7 additional step children. This was a major life change, but Betty stepped up to the challenge. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Jerry Lynn Sefcik; parents, Bonnie and James Evetts (Nanny and Papa), and nephew, Scott Sefcik.

Left behind are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Shartle, grandchildren, Sarah Shartle, Lindsey S. West, and Thomas W. Shartle; great-grandchildren, Brinley Jane West and Adalynn Jae West are left with fond memories. To most she was known as BB mainly for her robust figure, but to me she was always just Mom. BB will be fondly remembered for her relentless sense of humor, independence, love, and generosity. She loved cooking for her family and entertaining. Her recipes live on today! Peace be with her.
