Billie Jean Beard

Billie Jean Beard OBIT picBillie Jean Beard “Mamaw”, age 83, of Crockett, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her residence. She was born the seventh child to Myrtle Melissa and Joe Fitzgerald Frizzell November 26, 1936, on Thanksgiving Day, at home at Hickory Creek, Houston County, where she was raised. Billie Jean attended Kennard schools and was a cheerleader. After graduation, she continued her education at Sam Houston State University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Education. In the course of getting her education, Billie Jean married Earl Beard on December 22, 1956 and had four children. She was a school teacher at Glover and Kennard schools, where she touched so many lives. Earl and Billie Jean started their sewing factory business in 1972 that enabled them to meet people all over the USA, providing jobs for the community, which they were very proud and blessed. She was a lifetime member of the South Loop Church of Christ. Billie Jean passed peacefully in her sleep Sunday night and is waiting on the other side for her husband of 65 years, Earl Beard.

Billie Jean is survived by husband, Earl Beard of Crockett; children, Larry E. Beard and wife, Roxann of Crockett, Garry Beard of Crockett, Jeanne Beard Brittain and husband, Donald of Crockett, Stanley Beard and wife, Rocio of Crockett; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren with 3 being in heaven; 7 great-great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.    She was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Myrtle Frizzell; brothers, Ernest Frizzell, Paul Frizzell, Joe Cecil Frizzell, Benford Frizzell; sisters, Jewel DeSmyter, Nell Huff.

Funeral services for Billie Jean Beard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Mike Gibson officiating. Interment to follow in the Concord Cemetery where her body will be laid to rest. Visitation will be at 12 noon prior to service.

  3. So sorry to hear of Billie’s passing. She taught at Kennard when I began my teaching career. Such a sweet and caring lady. She was a mentor to me and helped me after I moved to Crockett. The smile she had then was the same smile she had when I spoke to her for the last time this past year.
    My prayers for all of her loved ones.

  4. So sorry for your loss. Billie was such a sweet and caring lady. I met her in 1983 when I began my teaching career at Kennard. She was not only a precious teacher, she was a mentor and a friend. She helped me after I moved to Crockett and always had the same beautiful smile every time I saw her, including our final visit this past year.
    Prayers for all of her loved ones. I’ll cherish my memories.
