Charles Edward Richardson, age 80, of Grapeland, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born March 1, 1938 in Atoka, OK to parents, Olie Richardson and Nancy Mae Tomlinson Richardson.  He married his wife Joy in 1957. Together they had three children, Carolyn, Dianne and Steve. The Richardson family packed up and moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1967, where they raised their family from there.

Charles enjoyed many things in life, he was very good at building and rebuilding basically anything. During his time living in Pasadena, he worked for Galena Park ISD for several years retiring from there. In 2000, he and his wife Joy settled in and retired to the Houston County area.

He loved doing things outside, yard work, working in his shop, taking golf cart rides, watching his westerns and listening to country music.  Charles loved taking naps outside while soaking in the peacefulness of the country. He was also very involved in his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s life, they always wanted to be at Papa and Granny’s. Being very involved in his church community, Charles and his wife were members of New Energy Church in Belott for over a decade and in 2012, was ordained a deacon. Mr. Richardson was also a veteran as he served three years in the United States Navy. He was very kind man and had a heart of gold, never meeting a stranger and will be dearly missed by all, as he was well loved by the community and his family.

Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years Joy Richardson of Grapeland; daughter, Carolyn Aucoin and husband, Thomas of Grapeland; daughter-in-law, Cindy Richardson; grandchildren, Wendy Wassel and husband Greg, Stephanie Wood and husband Chad, Shelbi Stockdale and husband Clint, Brandon Marze and wife Mary, Ashley Boyd and husband Clay, Shane Michael Richardson and wife Rachelle, Carsen, Carly, and Gracie Richardson, Mr. Richardson was also blessed to have sixteen great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Adams; son, Steven Richardson; mother, Nancy Butler; father, Olie Richardson.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in the New Energy Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Gillet officiating.  Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com
