Claudie Kendrick, age 84, of Crockett, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the Winfield Nursing Center. Claudie was born August 25, 1934 in Crockett to parents, Claudie William Kendrick, Sr. and Nettie Ora Jennings Kendrick.  His employment in law enforcement spanned from 1955-1992, serving as Crockett Police Chief for 10 years, deputy sheriff in Polk County and Houston County Sheriff Department for 37 years with 7 years as Houston County Sheriff.  He ended his working career as barn manager for East Texas Livestock. Claudie was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Claudie is survived by wife of 61 years, Betty Woodard Kendrick of Crockett; daughters, Tammy Kendrick of Crockett, Tonya Kendrick of Crockett, Teresa Kendrick Parrish and husband, Stephen of Crockett; grandchildren, Tyler McRae of Crockett, Automn Parrish of Crockett, Taylor Brown of Elkhart; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Leigh McRae of Crockett; sister, Eva Dale Kendrick of Houston; sister-in-law, Sue Kendrick of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by parents, Claudie and Nettie Kendrick; sister, Loleta Omelina; brother, Billy Don Kendrick; brother-in-law, James DePriest.

Funeral services for Claudie Kendrick will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  Family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

    We are so sorry to hear of Claudie’s passing. I remember Claudie when I was just a little girl and he was the Sherriff of Houston County. Claudie was one in a million and he will be missed for sure. Prayers to all of you and Claudie will be watching out for all of you, from Heaven. That’s just who Claudie was!
