Diana Parks

Diana Parks pic 1 croppedDiana Leah Parks, age 73, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Parkwood in the Pines in Lufkin. Diana was born in Crockett to Otis Mancell Parks and Essie Alline Coon Parks on December 26, 1947. She was a graduate of Crockett High School, played in the band and was a member of the National Honor Society. Diana chose Cosmetology as a vocation and also taught at the Cosmetology school in Crockett. Some of her proudest memories were of those students who graduated from the Academy where she taught. Diana has lived a life full of challenges, but has also had many personal triumphs. Through it all she has held fast to close friends, her family and a search for knowledge, as illustrated by the books she loved on physics, chemistry, enzymes and the like. She also found meaning in her art sketches, piano playing, poetry and writings as well as listening to her Spanish and rock music. Diana found comfort in the Star of David pendant, something she was thrilled to receive every birthday. Her wish following the death of her mother was to live out the rest of her life in a long term care facility. Diana was also able to take college courses at Angelina College in Lufkin, which she seemed to enjoy.

Diana is survived by sisters, Carolyn Goldman of Crockett, Sandra K. Parks of Arlington; brother, James O. Parks of Woodville; niece, Gay Lehenbauer and husband, John, their sons, Taylor and Grant of Longview; nephew, Charles Goldman and son, Coy of Crockett; niece, Sarah Carter Crow and husband, Mike, their sons Carter and Jack of Crockett. She was preceded in death by parents, Otis and Essie Parks; sister, Nelda Parks Carter; brothers-in-law, Charles L. Carter, Jr., C.A. Goldman; and nephew, Charles L. “Chad” Carter, III.

Graveside services for Diana Leah Parks will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 in Evergreen Memorial Park, Rev. Charles Goodson, officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com
