Doris Nell Frizzell

Doris FrizzellDoris Nell Frizzell, age 74, of Crockett, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Palestine Regional Hospital. Doris was born November 13, 1946 in Crockett to Henry R. Hughes and Nan Dorsett Hughes. She was a graduate of Lufkin High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University then her master’s degree from Sam Houston State University. Doris taught school for over 25 years at several locations including Kennard ISD, Crockett ISD, Mirando City ISD, and Ferguson Unit in Midway, before retiring. She was a member of the South Loop Church of Christ

Doris is survived by son, Thomas Gregory Frizzell of Crockett; brothers, Buddy Hughes and wife, Kathryn of Lufkin, Dennis Hughes and wife, Melinda of Navasota; special friend, Ellen Blackwell of Longview; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Benford Frizzell; daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Frizzell; father, Henry R. Hughes; mother and stepfather, Nan Hughes Collmorgen and Bill Collmorgen.

Graveside funeral services for Doris Nell Frizzell will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Mr. Mike Gibson officiating.

    I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. Doris was a friend in high school at Lufkin High and she was one of the sweetest people. We had several classes together snd she was very smart. I had ADHD way back then when no one knew what it was and she helped me sometimes.

    She will be missed by those of us who knew her then.

  7. Thomas, I do not know you but I went to school with Doris. We graduated in 1965. She was a good friend during our school years. Lost contact after we graduated. So sorry to lose a good friend and I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family. Marilyn Mathews
