Dwight Morss Murray Jr. age 63, passed away February, 14, 2019 in Tyler. Dwight was born May 22, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana to parents, Dwight Murray and Bobbi Chandler Murray.

He graduated from Greenhill School in Dallas in 1973 and went on to Graduate from Austin Collage in Sherman, TX with a BA in Business in 1977. Dwight continued his education earning a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. He was an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years earning both a Roundtable commissionership in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Dwight touched the lives of many with his dry wit and quiet demeanor and was well known for his love of cartoons and comic strips. He shared these often with friends and family via text and internet, finding just the right one at the right time for each individual person. His greatest love was his family, enjoying spending time with his grandson Damian as well as his sons and family members who came to his home in Edom, Texas. Dwight’s passions were photography and travel both abroad and domestically. He had discovered and shared his wife’s love of jewelry manufacturing and design, taking classes at both the famed GIA Institute in California and the Jewelry Monk Studio and School in Rapid City, South Dakota.

He was a member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas as well as the Unity Church on Forest Lane in Dallas and enjoyed many classes at the Unity Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dwight is survived by wife of 38 years, Linda S. Thomas Murray of Edom; son, Daniel C. Millwee of McKinney; grandson, Damian M. Millwee; friend, whom he considered a son, James Sopas and wife, Amanda and Children; numerous loving family members, friends and business associates. Preceded in death by parents, Dwight M. Murray, Sr. & Bobbi Chandler Murray; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Johnnie and Steve Allee.

A celebration of life for Dwight Morss Murray, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. October 5, 2019 at Dwight and Linda’s home in Edom, TX.
