Earline Shanks PicEarline Shields Luce Shanks, age 94, of Crockett passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at her residence. She was born January 22, 1926 in Crockett to parents, Frank Milton Shields and Ima Dove Ener Shields. Earline was a retired teacher receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston.

Earline is survived by daughter, Dianne Taylor and husband, Mike of Crockett; daughter-in-law, Kathy Luce of Pharr; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor and wife, Argin of Conroe, Michele Burger and husband, Mike of The Woodlands, Georgia Gunish and husband, Moses of Portland, OR, Sarah Hanson and husband, Josh of San Antonio; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Wayne Taylor of League City; numerous loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Harold “Denny” Luce; husband, G. C. Shanks; son, Harold Luce, Jr.; granddaughter, Melissa Taylor; parents, Frank and Ima Shields; sister, Frankie Taylor.

Graveside services for Earline Shields Luce Shanks will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the New Energy Cemetery with Bro. Buddy Neal officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Energy Cemetery Association, 9270 St. HWY 21 East, Crockett, TX 75835 or New Energy Church 2075 CR 1630 East, Crockett, TX 75835.

  1. We are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a sweet lady. Your family was one of the first families we met when we started coming to East Texas. They were always so much fun to be around. I have fond memories of all the laughter. Our family was very blessed to have had them in our lives. I pray all of your memories give you comfort until we see them again.
