Evelyn Delores Slaamot Schaefer, age 95, of Houston passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018. She was born February 17, 1922 in Bonetrail, ND to parents, Martin and Elfrida Borstad Slaamot. Evelyn’s childhood was lived around the area of Williston, ND. After marriage, March 8, 1943, she and her husband, Theodore “Ted” Schaefer farmed in the Minot, ND area and Hanks, ND. For six years the family resided in Wadena, MN then returned to Minot, ND in 1957. Evelyn was initially a teacher then became principal of the Nedrose School. In 1968 they moved to Houston, TX where she taught in the Aldine School District until her retirement in 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Schaefer; parents, Martin and Elfrida Slaamot; siblings, Eleanor Slaamot Iverson, Emery Slaamot and Arnold Slaamot. She is survived by her children, Ianne Schaefer Shuler and husband, Lynn, Lowell Schaefer and wife, Shannon, and Vernon Schaefer and wife, Bonnye; grandchildren, Kimberlee, Kevin, Aaron, Hilary, and Vincent; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Schaefer and wife, Lucille and Bernard Schaefer and wife, Elaine.

A private family memorial celebration of her life will be held in the chapel of Houston Methodist Hospital Willowbrook at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018. Burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Minot North Dakota at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070.   3. Evelyn was a great lady, and a special aunt to all us kids in the Slaamot family.
    We will miss her as well, and will always have great memories of holidays and special times with the Schaefers.
