Evelyn Faver, age 96, of Crockett, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 in the Winfield Nursing Center.  Evelyn was born April 2, 1923 in Lone Pine, Houston County, Texas to parents, A. L. Bitner and Ella Mitchell Bitner.  In 1949, she began working at Ham’s Ready to Wear in Crockett, retiring in 1981 after 32 years of service.  Evelyn was a sweet spirited “lady”, always very pleasant and kind to everyone especially loving her First Christian Church family where she had been a member for many, many years.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Robert Faver and wife, Brenda of Zavalla; grandsons, Danny Faver of Lufkin, David Faver of Zavalla; granddaughters, Kim Claussen and husband, Joe of Zavalla, Debbie Hamm and husband, Heston of New Braunfels, Megan Tarver and husband, Zack of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Halle Tarver, Addison Moore, Robert and Kade Faver; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.P. Faver in 1998; brothers and sisters, Lee Bitner, Elmer Bitner, Olene Langham, Cova Atkins, Reba Lois LaRue, Charles Bitner, Lucille West, and Ray Bitner.

Funeral services for Evelyn Faver will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Tim Allen officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Nogalus Prairie. Family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church.

We moved to Crockett in October 1967 and I soon met my neighbor and friend Robert, along with Mr. LP and Mrs Faver… Great people who were always very kind to me as a young man… Mrs. Faver was one of the kindest and sweetest persons in Crockett Texas… God bless her as she is rejoined with LP and our condolences to Robert and his family as well.

  11. I loved Grandma Evelyn, she was such a godly lady. She never ran out of love for others. She was a great example to me, she was always gracious and kind. Grandma Evelyn knew how to be a friend no matter how old she became. I heard her correct someone once, she did it in such a loving way that no offense or hurt feelings resulted.
