Glorianne (Gloria) Etheredge, age 88, of Lovelady, Texas passed away August 26th, 2018 in Cocoa Beach, Florida.  Glorianne was born in Kingsville, Texas to Edwin and Klara Knauf on August 6, 1930. She graduated from Aldine High School in 1945 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State College. She began working as a music teacher in Huntington, Texas where she created a musical play that every student in the school participated in.  She and her husband, J. C. then moved to Pasadena, Texas where they both taught school for many years.  After they moved back to Lovelady in 1978, she taught fourth grade at Lovelady Elementary School, then went on to help young men in prison to obtain their GEDs. Gloria enjoyed music, drawing, painting, sewing, reading and being with her family.

Glorianne is survived by her daughters, Linda Tijerina of Austin, Texas and Cheryl Glemser and son-in-law, Curtis Glemser of Merritt Island, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cassandra Tijerina of Houston, Texas, Jose Tijerina of Arlington, Texas, Michael Tijerina of Dallas, Texas, Rachel and Ryan Horan of Viera, Florida and Eric and Ada Glemser of Merritt Island, Florida. In addition she leaves behind her two great-grandchildren, Michaela Horan and Hudson Horan. She is predeceased by her infant son, her husband of 39 years, J.C, Etheredge, Jr. and her parents Edwin and Klara Knauf.

Funeral services for Glorianne Etheredge will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 in the Lovelady First United Methodist Church in Lovelady, Texas with Reverend Jack McMahon officiating.  Interment will follow at Lovelady Antioch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lovelady First United Methodist Church, Po Box 87, Lovelady, TX 75851.

  1. MRS. ETHEREDGE WAS A WONDERFUL TEACHER. SHE TAUGHT MY 3 SONS AT LOVELADY. SHE WILL BE MISSED. PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY.
