Janice A. Sy Alford, age 72, of Austonio, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at her residence. Janice was born April 5, 1948 in Dallas to parents, John Sy and Frances Vernon Sy. She was a 1966 graduate of Waltrip High School in Houston and was a customer service representative with Capital Best Printing Company for several years. Janice was a member of SASS, Single Action Shooting Society.

Janice is survived by husband, W. D. Alford of Austonio; children, Sandy Newton and husband, John of Baytown, Jonathon Davidson and wife, Kelly of Palm Springs, CA, Jeffrey Alford and wife, Michelle of Austin, William Brian Alford and wife, Krystal of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Sara, Katie, Zander, Lila, June; brother-in-law, K. D. Alford; numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Frances Sy; brother, Robert Sy; sister, Judith Evans.

Graveside funeral services for Janice A. Sy Alford will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2020 in the Creek Cemetery with John Newton officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

  1. Jan was a SASS member and shooter, a member of several shooting clubs and a member of the Green Mountain Regulators Bad Girls Club. We started the club in 2009 and most of us are still shooting there, such a FUN Group! We have missed Jan and Bud shooting with us since she got the big C. She always, always had a smile and a laugh for everyone, never a bad word against anyone. Truly. I will miss talking to you and I love you, Texas Two Step!

I’m sorry I couldn’t be there Grandma Jan I love you very much and I miss you thank you for always loving me and I’m so glad you got to meet Allison and you got to see her one last time I wish I had the same chance Fly high with all the Angels and one day I will see you again when it is my time to come home I love you 😘
