Kenneth Joe Exley

Ken Exley picKenneth Joe Exley, age 74, of Crockett, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 in the Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin. Ken was born April 3, 1946 in Douglas, Wyoming to parents, James Clarence Exley and Phyllis Helen Wollen Exley. He joined the United States Army in 1965 and served in the 101 Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, National Defense Service Medal and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar. Ken retired from Halliburton as a cement pumper where he worked for many years. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Fellowship in Crockett.

Ken is survived by wife, Norma Exley of Crockett; son, Jason Johnson and wife, Sherry of Hot Springs, South Dakota; grandchildren, Sean-Milo Kenneth Johnson of Rapid City, SD, Tarren-Michael Kenny Johnson stationed in North Carolina, Colton-Ross Alan Johnson of Vermillion, SD, Courtney Johnson of Hot Springs, SD; step-sons, Clay Brazzil of Huntsville, Jason Brazzil and wife, Michelle of Huntsville; step-grandchildren, Ashlyn Brown and husband, Wacey of Oakwood, Dayne and Trace Brazzil of Grapeland, Jase Brazzil of Huntsville; sisters, Edith Higgins and husband, Dudley of Great Falls, MT, Dorothy Knabjian and husband, Mike of Chicago, IL, Helen Johnson and husband, Eric of Arlington, TX; brother, Byron Exley and wife, Connie of Plattsmouth, NE; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by parents, James Clarence and Phyllis Helen Exley; sister, Blythe Exley.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020 in the Good Shepherd Fellowship Church with Brother Leon Wallace and Brother Ottis Byers officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Fellowship Church, 401 S. 7th St. Crockett, TX 75835.
