Kenneth Mason Gupton, Jr.

Kenneth Mason Gupton, Jr., age 63, of Crockett passed away July 23, 2017 at his home in Crockett. He was born March 22, 1954 in Houston to parents Kenneth Mason and Rosa Kathryn Gupton.

Mason, as he was known to family and friends, was a graduate of Sharpstown High School and a recent retiree from the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he served for more than 15 years.  Mason found comfort in his faith, loved his rural community, working with his hands, improving his homestead, fishing and four-wheeling at every opportunity.  A connoisseur of country living and Texas music, his lively spirit will be fondly remembered by those who loved him.

Mason is survived by his sister, Sandra Gupton of Houston; two nieces; and his dogs, Shelby and Reckless.  He also leaves behind three loving step children, J.J. Andrews and family, Stacey Swift and family, and Lonnie Abrams.He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Rosa Kathryn Gupton and sister, Karen Gupton Owen of Houston.

A celebration of Mason’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Ivey officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com

  1. I was so sad to hear of Mason’s passing. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with him the last several months and reminiscing
    about family things going on “back in the day.” He was a delight to know and will be missed. My sincere condolences.

  2. Mason was my good friend and Co-Worker for his 15 years at Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I was his supervisor most of those years and we was like family, he called and checked on me and my family as o did him. I have truly lost a good friend and pray for his family. I’ve posted on Facebook and many people are proving how good a person he was,
