Larry J. Ellis, age 58, of Crockett passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was born October 1, 1958 in Crockett to parents, J. L. Ellis and Wonnell Henley Ellis. He worked for many years as a brick layer.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Loretta Vest Ellis of Crockett; children, Valarie Davenport of Crockett, Tiffany Parker and husband, Seth of Missouri City; grandchildren, Lisa Kay Stevens of Oakwood, Madison Davenport of Ratcliff, and Cooper Ellis Parker of Missouri City; great-grandchildren, Drake Cole and Hadli Barrilleaux; sisters, Lisa Graham and husband, Todd of Crockett and Glenda Ellis of Crockett; brothers, Ronnie Ellis of Crockett and Bryant “Hoss” Ellis of Crockett; brothers-in-law, Willard and Margaret Vest of Splendora and Billy Vest of Houston; sisters-in-law, Bertie Bowdoin and husband, Jackie of Crockett, Carrie Powell and husband, Kenneth of Lovelady, Betty McLaughlin of Crockett, Shirley Wilson of Kennard, and Lavonne Webb of Crockett; father-in-law, Burton Vest of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. and Wonnell Ellis; brother, Clinton Ellis; and mother in-law, Gwen Vest.

Funeral services for Larry Ellis will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Rocky Hoch officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com
