Mildred Catherine “Millie” Bell

Mildred Catherine “Millie” Bell, age 84, of Crockett passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Vitas Hospice in Shenandoah.  Millie was born September 27, 1935 in Gastonia, North Carolina to parents, Herbert Brehm and Louise Hoffman Brehm.  She moved to Houston at an early age and graduated from Milby High School in 1954.  She worked several years for Houston Lighting and Power and retired from Pearland ISD.   Millie and her husband, Bill purchased property in Houston County in 1966 and became weekend-ranchers until they both retired and built a house south of Crockett becoming full time ranchers raising registered Marchigiana cattle.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crockett and also the Crockett Chapter #509 Order of the Eastern Star.

Millie is survived by daughters, Diane Kay Bell Dreitzler and husband, Joe of Spring, Brenda Lynn Bell Byrd of Crockett; grandson, Michael Byrd Jr. and wife, Amanda of Conroe; sister, Golda Berger of Giddings.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William George “Bill” Bell on August 1, 2020; parents, Herbert and Louise Brehm; sister, Mary Louise Brehm; brother, Herbert Brehm Jr.

Funeral services for Mildred Catherine “Millie” Bell will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to service.
