Nell Marie Meinen CroppedNell Marie Meinen, age 81, of Crockett, passed Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. She was born October 25, 1939 in Pennington to parents, Paul Allen Bates and Neta Bell Smith Bates. Nell retired from the Houston County Co-Op after more than 30 years of service. She was very generous and would help anyone that she could. Nell was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

Nell is survived by daughters, Cinda Norsworthy and husband, David of Pennington, Pam Magee of Pennington, Brenda Callahan and husband, Dennis of Crockett; step-daughter, Jan Meinen Brasher of Conroe; grandchildren, Amy Cleaver and husband, Chancey of Flat Prairie, Erika Milner and husband, Josh of Pennington, Tera Furrh and husband, Ty of Crockett, Amber Gentry and husband, Devin of Friday, Amanda Wallace and husband, Michael of Lufkin, Kyle Parrish of Longview, Justin Brasher and wife, Brittany of Conroe, Jace Brasher of Conroe; great-grandchildren, Blake Milner, Troy Milner and wife, Skylar, Chad Cleaver and fiancé, Korigan, Carley Wallace, Maddie Nash, Allisyn Cleaver, Sydney Furrh, Clara Wallace, Sarah Furrh, Mallory Walker, Gracie Parrish, Brody Furrh, Brenna Furrh, Tristen Fisher, Kayla Faauaa; brother, Robert Bates and wife, Nancy of Livingston; sister, Paulette Dunaway and husband, Charles of Montgomery. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter J. “Buddy” Meinen; parents, Paul and Nettie Belle Bates; sister, Lela Alice Bates Lawrence.

Funeral services for Nell Marie Meinen will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Ivey and Rev. Drew Scott officiating. Interment to follow at the Pennington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to service at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

  1. So sorry Cinda, Pam and Brenda that you have loss your dear sweet mother . Tears may last for a time, but joy comes in the morning. Each of you have a little of her in you as she has left her fragrance of love, grace and influence with you. Thank God for her being in your lives.   2. I am so sorry Cinda, Brenda, and Pam. Me and your mom were really good friends and I always enjoyed when she came into my office at work and we would talk about the old times. She was truly one of a kind and I know that you all will miss her very much. May God give you all the comfort in days to come. Love to you all.
