Robert Charlton PhotoRobert H. Charlton, age 77, died unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Lovelady on December 7, 2020. Bob was born September 29, 1943 to Clara Belle and Robert G. Charlton in Whittier, California. Bob spent most of his life in Bakersfield, California, raising a family with his wife Karen (Combs) Charlton, who preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and after serving his country studied animal husbandry at Fresno State University. Bob worked as a cattle rancher and truck driver prior to beginning a long and successful career in the oil industry. After retirement from the oil industry he returned to his first love, cattle ranching, developing a successful operation based in Lovelady. He grew to love the community and greatly valued the kindness and friendship of his neighbors.  He was known for his grit, determination, and strong work ethic, values that he passed on to his kids Kristin Mansfield and husband, Terry, Sheri Phillips, and husband, Mike, Dan Charlton and wife, Debbie; grandkids, Nick Charlton, Ty Mansfield, and Jenna Mansfield. In addition to his kids and grandkids, Bob is survived by his sister Carolyn Charlton and brother Ed Charlton.  Online condolences may be left at www.callawyallee.com.
