Salvatore Lunetto

Salvatore LunettoSalvatore “Charlie” Lunetto, age 94, of Lovelady, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born in New York City to parents, Frank Lunetto and Angelina Pipia Lunetto. Salvatore served in the United States Army during WWII and was part of the Normandy Invasion, landing on Utah Beach. Eventually wounded and captured by the Germans, he was placed in a prisoner of war camp and liberated by Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. Third Army Acorn Division. As a voluntary infantryman, he fought with Patton’s Third Army in The Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. Salvatore was a kind, loving family man with a pure heart, love for his country and a forgiving soul who will be dearly missed. He never met a stranger and always welcomed you with a smile.

Salvatore is survived by his children, Rita Moore and husband, Mike of Lovelady, James Lunetto and wife, Eva of Germany; grandchildren, Christopher Moore and wife, Tina of Cleveland, Michael Moore of Houston, Sophia Lunetto of Germany, Maria Lunetto of Germany; great-grandchildren, Michael Moore, Gordon Moore, Erik Moore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lunetto; parents, Frank and Angelina Lunetto.
