Wiley Thomas Starling

Mr. Wiley Thomas Starling of Kennard passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Whitehall Nursing Center in Crockett, Texas. He was 95 years old. He was born November 23, 1922 to parents, William Arthur and Lucy Mae Starling and was one of seven children.

Thomas attended and graduated from Kennard High School.

Mr. Starling entered the United States Army in 1943 and trained at Camp Barkeley, Texas. He served in England and received a Good Conduct Medal and an Honorable Discharge in 1946 and returned to the family home in Kennard.

Thomas worked as a farmer, rancher and logger. He was also an avid hunter and liked to fish as well. He always had a wonderful garden and raised delicious watermelons.

Thomas was an active member of Piney Creek Baptist Church for many years until his failing health prevented him from going.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Arthur and Lucy Mae Starling; brothers, William, J.W., Raymond and Vernon Starling.

Mr. Starling is survived by his sister, Lois Braswell and husband, Shelby of Kennard; brother, Herman Starling and wife, Nelda of Pasadena; sister-in-law, Flodessa Starling of Ratcliff; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives.

Funeral services for Wiley Thomas Starling will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ivie Cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
