William G. “Bill” Bell

Bill Bell PhotoWilliam George “Bill” Bell, age 87, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his home in Crockett.  Bill was born October 10, 1932 to parents, Horace Jones Bell and Ella Lee Toole Bell in Trinity.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for Houston Lighting and Power until his retirement in 1992.   Bill and wife “Millie” purchased property in Houston County in 1966 and became weekend-ranchers. After they both retired, they built their house and began raising registered Marchigiana Cattle until poor health and age forced Bill to sell all of his cattle.  Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crockett, was Past Master of Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF & AM in Crockett, Scottish Rite, Arabia Shrine, Crockett Chapter 509 of the Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and IBEW Local #66 in Houston.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Catherine Bell of Crockett; daughters, Diane Kay Bell Dreitzler and husband, Joe of Spring, Brenda Lynn Bell Byrd of Crockett; grandson, Michael Byrd and wife, Amanda of Conroe; sister, Frances Jane Pousson of Crockett; numerous other loving relatives and friends.   Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ella Lee Bell; sisters, Elizabeth Bright, Ruth Zuckero, Ruby Muery; brothers, John Jones Bell, Thomas Bell, Joe Edward Bell and infant twins, David and Daniel Bell.

Funeral services for William George “Bill” Bell will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel, Dr. Jerry House officiating.  Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service.  Online condolences may be left at www.callawayallee.com
